On Android, how can you take a still photo from a video?

A video is essentially a slideshow of photographs played at an extremely quick speed, giving the impression that the items are moving. It's preferable to make a film than to take a single photograph. The benefit of a video is that it can also be used to extract a still image.

You may have noticed that still images obtained from a video seem better than individual photographs. Have you ever seen a paused shot of a person strolling in slow motion? It appears to be very cool and cinematic. Let's say you've filmed a video and you like a certain view that you'd like to use as a background image.

Capture still photo from video using the gallery app

  • On your Android phone, go to the gallery.
  • Locate and play the video you want to capture a still image from.
  • Now drag the video's duration bar to the location where you wish to capture your image.
  • On your screen, you'll notice an image capture or screenshot-like icon, as illustrated in the image below. By clicking it, you can save the current frame of the video to your device as an image.

Take a picture while recording the video

When you're filming a video, you might want to take a picture of any scene. Normally, you would stop the video and then use the picture mode to take a photo. There isn't any necessity for that. Even if you're recording a video on your Android phone, you can take a photograph. Here's how to go about it.

To begin, launch the Camera app on your smartphone. Change to Video mode and begin shooting your video as usual. An image symbol would appear in the bottom-right corner of your screen (as shown in the below picture).

Use a third-party app to grab a photo from video

There are plenty of third-party apps available for Android which allows you to capture still image from video. One such app is Video to Photo. On the Google Play Store, it has received over 500K downloads. The software is pretty little, barely roughly 2 MB in size. There are two possibilities when it comes to its features. The first is Quick Capture, while the second is Time Capture.

The Quick Capture tool allows you to take a single shot at a certain point in the video. On the other hand, if you want to take a series of image grabs from a movie depending on a specific time interval, you can do so with the Time Capture feature. This step-by-step tutorial will show you how to operate this programme.

Capture still image from video in Kinemaster

If you use Kinemaster on your Android phone as a video editor, you can use the same app to capture still photos from your videos. Only those who already have Kinemaster installed on their phone can use this strategy. Simply open Kinemaster and start a new project, then load the video from which you wish to take still images.

Check to see if the video is currently playing. Then, on the left side of your screen, click the capture symbol (just above the settings icon). You'll now notice a button labelled "Capture and Save." When you select this option, your device will take a snapshot of the current frame and save it as an image, which you can access through the gallery app.
